Tips for Trips

Here are just a few things we've learned while planning this massive trip.

- Get to know Rick Steves. He's your best friend and writes great books. Also, don't pay full price for them. Unless you're completely anal and have to have books dated in the same year you go on your trip (...Colin...), you can usually get used editions of his books that are a year or two old at Half Price Books, eBay, Amazon, etc. (However, Colin adds, you can get brand new Rick Steves books on Amazon for half off.)

- BOOK. EARLY. Trust us, prices only go up the closer you get to your travel dates.

- Travel insurance is a good idea.

- Don't bite off more than you can chew. We may have already done this, so this may be a moot point. We shall see.

- Write out a tentative itinerary as you go. It's a lot of fun to plan and it helps to keep your dates straight.
